Bay St. is a north-south arterial road running from Davenport in the north to Queen's Quay in the south. The southern section of the road passes through Toronto's financial district. The financial industry in Canada is often referred to as "Bay St.". The northern portion is mostly residential condo buildings. One lane of traffic in each direction is reserved for taxis and buses during weekday daytimes.

The Bay St. financial area is currently home to Canada's 5 largest banks, 6/10 largest insurers and 85% of the country's mutual fund companies. It is also home to the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX)
