Guu Izakaya is a essentially a Japanese version of what most in Europe and North America would call a pub. The highly popular restaurant chain has opened its first ever store outside of the Greater Vancouver Area on December 18, 2009 in downtown Toronto just outside Church Street Village.

Drink prices are reasonable and on par with most pub. A pitcher of imported Sapporo draft beer is $12. Chef Natsuhiko Sugimoto from the original Guu is now heading the kitchen at the Toronto location. The food is meant to be shared along with alcoholic beverages, like Tapas. Hot and cold items are available and there is a weekly or seasonal menu prepared by the chef as well. Most items under $10.

Just North of Gerrard St. E on Church St.
